Following weeks of tough competition across 92 retailers of all sizes, a retailer in Cheshire has been handed a prize for their head-turning window display.

Marple Stationery Supplies scooped the headline prize in the National Stationery Week Retailer Window Competition in its debut year.

Retailers who signed up to be a part of the campaign were tasked to dress their storefronts and webstores with the free POS pack for the chance to win product from headline sponsors Sheaffer and Nu: Notebooks.

The store, which is based on the Stockport Road in Marple, who’ve been an Official Retailer to the annual stationery celebration for the last three years, brightened up their windows with ‘Stationery Addict’ badges and product displays, including the boldly coloured National Stationery Week logo.

Sarah Laker, Owner of Marple Stationery Supplies, was proud to win the award: “We’re extremely proud to have won the National Stationery Week Retailer Window Competition!

“As an independent retailer, our window displays are vital to us, giving us a place to showcase what we offer before entering the store. It’s also a fun and varied way to think about how to get people into the store. The free POS pack that National Stationery Week offer is key to that.”

“National Stationery Week gives us an opportunity to shout about the thing we do best: stationery! We love being involved year on year and are so pleased to be chosen as the winner of the Retailer Window Competition!”

The wife and mum of two is described by locals as a one woman band and opened her store in 2005, after she changed career path after thirteen years as a nurse. The store has seen great success, including Sarah’s own nomination for Cheshire Woman of the Year 2016.

Tim Willoughby, Managing Director of Ocean Media Group said: “All of us would like to say congratulations to Sarah and her team. Their display was by far the best entry.

Tim added: “It was great to see retailers from around the country making use of the free POS pack and entering the Retailer Window Competition. Hopefully the campaign has helped get shoppers through the door of both National and Independent retailers.”
